LVT Vinyl floor installation in Northborough, MA
Old Colonial Rd, Northborough, MA
As part of our full home remodeling project on Old Colonial Road in Northborough, replacing the home’s flooring was a key step in updating the space. The existing floors were a mix of old carpet, old hardwood and dated laminate. Beyond the aesthetic mismatch, the biggest issue was constant squeaking and uneven height transitions between rooms.
Nuisance noise like squeaking is usually a telltale sign that the subfloor wasn’t properly glued down and the nails have loosened over time.
Here is a look at what Millhawlk handled:
- Full Construction Process: Complete labor and materials.
- Design & Conceptualization: Comprehensive layout planning and interior design.
- Subfloor Preparation & Leveling
Before laying down a single plank, getting the foundation right was our main priority. To fix the underlying structural issues and eliminate floor noise:
- Squeak Fixes & Subfloor Repair: We identified the areas with the most noise and replaced those sections of plywood subflooring, securing everything properly to stop squeaks at the source.
- Height Leveling: We leveled out all the uneven height transitions across different rooms, creating a smooth, flat continuous surface throughout the home.
- Flooring Installation
Once the prep work was complete, the rest of the installation was smooth sailing:
- Underlayment: Laid down high-quality underlayment to add cushion, improve thermal efficiency, and provide extra sound dampening.
- LVT Flooring: Installed the premium Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) across the prepared floor.
- Final Considerations
By addressing the underlying subfloor issues before laying down the new LVT, we eliminated all the annoying squeaks and steps between rooms. The final result was a quiet, perfectly level, and beautifully seamless floor—a total transformation that elevated the entire interior.
