At Rio Restaurant and Victoria Market in Plymouth, MA, Millhawlk was responsible for the siding installation as part of a larger commercial construction project. Covering 4,960 sq. ft., the client selected James Hardie fiber cement siding for its durability, low maintenance, and long-lasting performance — an ideal solution for a busy commercial setting.
Fiber cement siding is a medium- to high-cost option that offers exceptional quality, elegance, and longevity. James Hardie’s factory finish also includes a 25-year paint warranty, ensuring lasting beauty and protection.
Along with construction, our team developed the design concept for the project. The client requested a sophisticated, understated exterior paired with a warm, inviting interior (see interior project). To achieve this, we created a gradient of gray tones and combined different siding types for a modern yet timeless aesthetic.
Victoria Market Exterior
Siding: James Hardie board-and-batten siding in Iron Gray.
Trim & Fascias: Door and window trims painted in Cityscape with fascias finished in matte black.
Entrance: Transitioned to clapboard/lap siding with a 7” exposure, blending from Iron Gray → Night Gray → Gray Slate → Light Mist (all from the James Hardie Statement Collection).
Panels: 4×10 ft. James Hardie Light Mist panels cut into 12-inch strips with Tamlyn Trim transitions.
Custom Awning: A matte black awning manufactured by General Awnings, designed for weather protection and installed after shop drawing approval and quick turnaround manufacturing.
Rio Restaurant Exterior
Entrance: James Hardie 4×10 panels cut into 24-inch strips with Tamlyn Trim transitions, adding elegance to the restaurant’s brand image.
Trims & Details: All door trims, blocks, and fascias were installed with James Hardie 5/4” or ¾” trims. Gutters and fascias were finished in matte black to create a bold, cohesive look.
